The Kawau Island Advisory Committee is separate from the Kawau Island Residents and Ratepayers Association ( Inc). The Advisory Committee is a committee of the Rodney District Council. Two local members are elected every three years by the registered residents and property owners of the island, and join with a Rodney District Councillor to form the committee acting as a representative of the island in matters of concern, as well as liaison between the Council and the island.
